SLOMO.TV Launches VOL Virtual Offside Line Software for Football Officiating
SLOMO.TV announced on June 15, 2026 the launch of VOL (Virtual Offside Line), a new software solution for football officiating that runs as an integrated option on the company's existing videoReferee VAR servers without requiring additional hardware. The system uses augmented-reality tools, including 3D crosshair positioning and 0.5-frame synchronization across video streams, to help referees identify the relevant body points of players and mark offside lines at the moment the ball is played.
The company said pitch topology and camera placement are critical to accuracy, noting that marking deviations of just 5 to 10 cm can affect an offside call and recommending topological pitch measurements twice per season. SLOMO.TV recommends a minimum of four stationary cameras positioned 16 meters from the goal line, covering up to 95% of incidents, with eight cameras providing optimal coverage; VOL is being rolled out across the company's VAR server line through 2026.
